Project Mockingbird was a hidden operation launched by the Agency in the early 1950s. Its goal was to control the press and sway public opinion.The Agency hired reporters and entered major news organizations to disseminate propaganda that supported their missions. This operation included inserting fabricated articles and quieting dissenting voices.
